Two beautiful and ornate burnished gold on black wall hangings that are very mid century when this type of wall decor was all the rage. They are marked on the backs for the Burwood Company and dated 1970 in Roman numerals.
The two pieces are both a tall thin plant arrangement in a pot. One appears to be pine cones on springs of pine needles and the other is an arrangement of lilies on stems. The pines have a rounded pot with a thin round base and the lily arrangement has a chalice type of pot at the base that has "XXXX" design around the center of the pot.
The two vintage matching but different wall art pieces from 1970 have hooks on the back of them for hanging. These are mid century wall decor items are quite striking on the wall.
They are dated 1970 and 4868 and have the copyright stamp of the Burwood Co. on the backs.
They measure approx. 15 1/2 inches at the tallest point and 4 inches at the widest point. They are about 1 inch deep.
In nice vintage condition with no chips or cracks.
NOTE:
The Burwood Company made a number of home decor items popular in the mid century. Burwood Carved Products Co. started in the late 1920s in Port Huron, MI. In 1932, they dropped “carved” from their name. They were owned by Homco from about 1974 to 1987-8. They went out of business in the late 1990s.
