Vintage Large Mary & Infant Jesus Statue w/ Light Bulb - Kitsch Electric Retro Chalkware Blessed Mother Bust 18” Tall - Mid Century
This large vintage chalkware bust of the Blessed Mother and the infant Jesus features a single small light bulb on one side tucked into a crevice with a flower around it. This lighted statue is very mid century and subtly colorful.
This retro religious piece has yellow roses with green leaves around Mary and Jesus. Mary wears a blue and colored veil. The hair color on both Mary and Jesus is brown, and their eyes are blue. The facial features are lovely, serene and rather lifelike. The half round base section is brown.
This statue has one single small clear light bulb on one side that lights up. The bulb is tucked into a crevice made by flowers. The electrical cord has a switch that turns the bulb on and off.
While the front of this piece is three dimensional, the back side is flat. There is a hook on the very top - see photos.
It is nice vintage condition with wear to the paint and chipping on this mid century piece commensurate with vintage age. One of the ends of the flowers on the side of this chalkware statue has been chipped off - see photos for detail.
Measures approx. 18” high and is 10” wide at widest point.
The statue is signed DSS with a copyright symbol at one side of the base.
NOTE:
The light fixture and cord are in working condition but are quite old - circa 1950s, and would be best to be replaced.
