A great vintage cast metal horse drawn fruit and vegetable Wagon with horses, driver, bags, brooms, and produce. This toy, which I believe is a reproduction (circa 1980s), was made in several pieces.
The pieces include the driver, the wagon and umbrella another, the horses, two brooms, three sacks and ten wooden boxes with fruit or vegetables in them. The driver and the wagon/horses fit together with metal pegs that fit into a notch. The sacks, brooms and produce are not attached and can be placed in the wagon in any fashion that you desire.
The wagon exterior is a dark reddish brown and the sign on the side is white embossed lettering. There are little boxes or crates with different fruits and vegetables in them in the back of the wagon and there are two small brooms.
The horses are brown with black accents on the yoke, reins and harness. The man who is the driver is green with a black hat and shoes.
The side of the wagon says FRESH FUITS AND VEGETABLES. The umbrella has sections that alternate and they say FRESH FRUITS and/or FRESH VEGETABLES.
Measures about 10 1/2" long when all connected, and is about 3" wide and 5 1/2" high.
Weighs more than 4 1/2 lbs. before packaging for shipment - it is a hefty piece as the horses, wagon, umbrella are made of cast metal.
In nice vintage condition with lots of wear and chipping to the paint.

In the late 19th century to mid-20th century, fruit and vegetable wagons would make daily rounds delivering produce before the electric refrigerator was used in homes.
