An antique octagonal silver plate tray with an embossed floral garland design on the edges. A bit of the design drapes down into each of the four corners. There is a raised dotted design all along the eight sides at the outer edge.
The antique tray or serving dish measures 9 1/2" across and is about 1/2" high - there is a very small pedestal base that is square in shape.
Hallmarked on the bottom of the tray with WALLACE and then a squirrel, a W, a letter C with the letter o inside it and a crown. Below that NS and below that 6433 N. This hallmark stands for the the WALLINGFORD CO INC of Wallingford, CT, which was a part of Wallace Bros. Silver Co. The company produced items from approx. 1903-1941. This tray was made somewhere in that timeframe.
This unusually shaped tray is in nice antique condition with wear and some scratching on the top commensurate with antique age - see photos for detail. Item's price reflects this condition. It has been lightly polished.
