Pair Vintage Ornate Syroco Shelves - 2 Wall Shelves Pine Adirondack Woods Cabin - Shabby Chic Mid Century Syracuse Ornamental Wood Co.

Sorry, this item has sold.

A beautiful and ornate pair of Syroco wood wall hangings that are shelves. See note below about Syroco and the Syracuae Ornamental Wood Company. They feature a pine cone and pine needle design on them. The tops are completely flat. While some Syroco is lightweight and plastic feeling, these are the original Syroco formulation that is made from wood and a bonding material. They are heavy, like wood is,and are really sturdy.

The pair have the remains of a label for the Syroco on the backs.

The two vintage brown Syroco wood shelves that are from the mid century have two hooks on the back of each of them for hanging. As they are mid century, they have signs of wear consistent with their age and some chipping, but are quite striking on the wall. Would look great in an Adirondack themed decor.

They each measure 8 1/2” long by 8 1/2” wide and are 4” deep.

They are rather hefty weighing in at a total of 4 lbs. before packaging for shipment.

In nice vintage condition with some light wear consistent with mid century age of these two ornate brown Syroco shelves.

NOTE:
The Syracuse Ornamental Company, known as Syroco, was an American manufacturing company based in Syracuse, New York. They were best known for their molded wood-pulp products that resembled hand-carving.

Founded in Syracuse, New York in 1890 by immigrant Adolph Holstein, the Syracuse Ornamental Company (Syroco) specialized in decorative wood carving, especially for the local residential market. Products included fireplace mantelpieces and other types of interior decoration popular in late Victorian homes. To meet increasing market demand and sales opportunities Holstein developed a material looked and felt like wood but that which could be shaped, allowing multiple pieces to be produced through a molding process. The new product, which combined wood pulp brought from the Adirondacks with flour as a binder and other materials to give it strength, was extruded and then cut to fit compression molds, which had were made from original carvings in real wood.

No, we are not comfortable providing pricing or answering questions about the value or worth of vintage or antique items. We believe they are worth what someone will pay for them.
