A very different shaped glass candy jar with a lid that features wonderful gold accent trim. The sides on both the top and bottom pieces have a paneled optic effect. The gold band trim that is encrusted on the lid and the base features fruit shapes including apples, pears and grapes with grape leaves in between.
The style of this trim is reminiscent of a Tiffin piece, however Westmoreland also made some candy jars with a similar shape. Unfortunately, I am unable to find this jar to identify the maker. I would guess this piece is early to mid 1900s. I believe this jar was made by Fenton.
Measures 8 3/4" high. The opening of the jar and the lid diameter is 6". The base has a 3 7/8" diameter.
In nice vintage condition with no chips or cracks. Some wear to the gold accent trim (especially to the tip of the knob on the lid) commensurate with vintage age - see photo closeups.
