This set of three Pressed Glass Apothecary Jars with lids and pedestal bases are a tall or large size with a wide body. They are all the same size. This listing is for the purchase of all 3 jars.
There is decorative starburst on the top of each lid. The neck of the jars has a vertical set of rectangle shapes all around it. The body of these jars is actually 4 sided - it is not round as most apothecary jars are. The sides are slightly rounded and bulge at the center. Below this main section of the jars, is a thin band, another vertical row of the rectangles and below that, some clear glass at the very bottom of each base.
The lids for these retro pressed glass jars have a plastic lining on the base that fits into the glass jar section. Embossed on the plastic around each of these it says US PAT NO 2,614,727 and CANADA 491,813 and OTHER PATS PENDING. According to the US Patent Office, the patent for this type of lid was filed in October of 1952.
Measure approx. 9" tall with the lids on and the base has a 3" diameter across the bottom. About 4" across at widest point. Top opening is 3" across.
Great vintage condition with no chips or cracks.
Would make an nice set if display jars or treat jars for a wedding or other special event.
