A matching pair of large wall art featuring two famous paintings that are inside an ornately decorated brass colored metal frame and under raised glass. The retro pair feature large oval pictures of the famous paintings "The Blue Boy" by Thomas Gainsborough and "Pinkie" by Thomas Lawrence. (SEE NOTE BELOW) Both were painted in the 1700s and are quite well known.
Each of these vintage oval pictures is under a slightly rounded glass and set inside an ornately decorated brass-colored metal frame. One picture has a blue felt backing and the other a red felt backing. There are loops on the back for hanging on the wall.
NOTE:
The Blue Boy - (c. 1770) is a full-length portrait in oil by Thomas Gainsborough. It hangs in the Huntington Library, San Marino, California.
Pinkie - is the traditional title for a portrait made in 1794 by Thomas Lawrence in the permanent collection of the Huntington Library at San Marino, California where it hangs opposite The Blue Boy by Thomas Gainsborough. It is also referred to as Sarah Barrett Moulton: Pinkie.
Each framed picture measures approximately 17" long x 12" wide.
In very nice vintage condition with light patina and wear commensurate with vintage age - circa 1960s. The one picture still has the original sticker from Hi Mark ITALY on the back. One frame appears to have more patina than the other.
