A vintage pair of statues of a man and woman in old fashioned dress of a mostly ivory and gold color scheme with some additional colors on their faces. This is typical of home decor items from the mid century, many times imports from post war Japan.
Both of these figurines are tall and slender, made of china with the man being slightly taller than the woman. They have an off-white color and gold painted accents on their clothing. Only their faces have a bit of other color - a red mouth and grayish blue colored eyes.
The woman wears a long gown with a large bustle and holds a parasol in one hand. She is holding her skirt up and shows a bit of leg.
The gentleman wears a long coat and knicker type of pants. His coat has an open lapel and a frilly shirt underneath.
The lady's dress has gold flowers painted on it and the gentleman has gold accents on his clothing as well. Both have very red lips and gray blue eyes. I believe these are circa 1950s and are similar to or are figurines made by Ardalt in Japan in the mid century. (I would say these are by Ardalt but they are unmarked.)
Measurements:
The man - 8 1/2" tall and 3 1/2" wide
The woman - 8" tall and 3 1/3" wide
In nice vintage condition with no chips or cracks. Some very light wear to the gold paint commensurate with vintage age. Still look great!
