A pair of matching gold bud vases made by Zanesville Portery of Zanesville, Ohio. These two gold vases with white interiors are labeled as their "Chic" line of pottery.
The most important industry in Zanesville, Ohio during the second half of the nineteenth century was art pottery manufacturing. The Chic Pottery Company originated in Wellsville, Ohio. In the mid-1940s, the company moved to Zanseville, Ohio. Chic Pottery was no longer listed in trade directories in 1954.
These vases are circa 1940s.
Measure 5 1/2" tall and 2 3/4" wide at their widest point. The top openings have a 1 1/4" diameter. The bases have a 1 3/4" diameter.
The bottoms of each bud vase are marked "CHIC POTTERY ZANESVILLE OHIO" in gold.
These two gold vases are in nice vintage condition with no cracks. There is a chip in the gold coating on the widened area near the base on one of the vases. See photo closeups. Some wear to the gold in various place commensurate vintage age. See photos for detail. Item's price reflects conditions.
