Elegant hand painted pair of demitasse cups and matching saucers that are fine porcelain. The cups have a very different shape and the top and bottom edges s are slightly scalloped.
This vintage espresso or small coffee pair was made in Japan in the post WWII era. They are marked Japan on the back. The China is light and delicate - similar to Limoges.
The cups feature pink flowers with marigold yellow and green leaves with gold accent trim. The front and back sides of the delicate cups have different floral patterns. The background is an off-white. There is also a very thin gold decorative trim on the top edge of the cups and a thin gold line on the cups to accent the pattern.
Measurements:
saucers - 5" in diameter
cups - 3" high. Top opening has a 2 1/3" diameter. Cups hold approx. 4 oz.
The saucers have the same pink, gold and yellow flowers on their edge and an off-white inner section as well as some gold trimming. The bottom side is also the white.
Markings on the bottom of each saucer say JAPAN.
This retro set of 2 demitasse cups and saucers is in nice vintage condition with no chips or cracks. Light wear to the pieces and the gold trim as would be expected a set that is circa mid century.
