Lovely carafe or pitcher by Ittala in very nice vintage condition. I believe this hand blown clear glass piece was designed by Erkki Vesanto and produced for Ittala of Finland in 1963 and 1964. Vesanto was a Finnish glass artist and glassmaker who joined the Littala Glassworks as a designer in 1936. Vesanto helped fellow designers Tapio Wirkkala and Timo Sarpaneva with their work at Ittala.
This mid century modern pitcher or carafe was created specifically for ice water. The shape holds the ice back the ice in the body of the pitcher while you pour water out the spout. You hold the carafe at the neck and the water pours out without the ice.
This unique Finnish pitcher features a very nice art glass mid century modern shape and Scandinavian look. This piece is hand blown as evidenced by the small bubbles in the glass here and there and a pontil on the bottom typical of hand blown glass.
The original red Ittala sticker is still intact on the top of his carafe. It reads MADE IN FINLAND. No chips or cracks - this appears to never have been used.
Measures approx. 9 1/2" tall and 6'' wide from the tip of the spout to the end of the main body of this carafe. The base is approx. 4'' in diameter.

No, we are not comfortable providing pricing or answering questions about the value or worth of vintage or antique items. We believe they are worth what someone will pay for them. Therefore, there is no way to assign something a set monetary value - in our opinion. We suggest doing an online search to find similar items and take it from there.
