This lovely white with deep red roses ironstone teapot made in Staffordshire, England by Sadler Co. has a great traditional shape and is ribbed horizontally giving this a unique look. See NOTE about the Sadler Co. below.
The body is ivory (off white) with a single red rose and a smaller gray/blue rose on one side, and a smaller version of these same two roses on the other side. There are two of these same red and gray/blue rose designs on the lid but of course, are a smaller. (Note: The roses on the front of this teapot are larger than the roses on the back.) The gold lines of trim are on the portions of the spout, handle and the top of the knob on the lid. There are also gold trimmed lines around the lid, top opening, the teapot body top and bottom sections. These gold lines seem to highlight the ribbed body section of this teapot.
Measures 5.5" tall and 9 " from handle to the spout. The bottom of the teapot is stamped SADLER - ENGLAND. The letters and numbers that appear to be J 497 M that are hand painted in gold as well.
In nice vintage condition with no cracks or chips. There is some crazing all over this retro teapot - see photo closeups. Color and gold trim is in fairly nice shape (two small sections of faded gold trim on the lid - see photos for detail).
