This lovely vintage Shawnee Pottery Co. teapot that it is in great condition especially considering it is circa 1950s or before.
The body is ivory (off white) with a dark pink flower and a smaller bloom on a green stem on both the front and the back of this mid century teapot. The floral design has a green stem. Sprinkled all over the ivory background are small gold flowers on a stem. There is gold on the top of the knob, the tip of the spout, on the handle and on rings around the base, the lid an the top opening of the pot itself. All of these tiny gold accents are in very nice condition with little loss on the gold designs.
The bottom is embossed USA. There is no USA pottery company but shortly after WWII the US government passed a law that all imported goods had to be marked with their country of origin. Some American companies like the Shawnee Pottery Co. decided they didn't need to mark their items because items would say JAPAN or CHINA. Other companies continued to use the USA mark. The Shawnee Pottery began operations in Zanesville, Ohio in 1937. The Shawnee Pottery company operated from 1937 through 1961
Measures 6.5" tall including the lid and 10" from handle to the spout.
In very nice vintage condition with no cracks or chips. Colors and gold trim are in pretty nice shape - see photos for detail).
