Great vintage statue by Micheal Garman is signed and dated on the back. Michael Garman is an American sculptor. After traveling and learning all over the country and the world, he eventually settled in Colorado Springs in 1971 and perfected his gritty, Americana style. Over the past fifty years his sculptures were created to honor American heroes from all walks of life. This statue is an example of this. Garman refers to himself as "America's Storyteller Sculptor".
The workman depicted here appears to be someone familiar with water and gas lines as the two marks on the base are access points to water and gas lines. It seems like this workman would be holding something as his one hand is out stretched and a bit cupped. The other arm hangs at his side. The gentleman wears a cap and work clothing. The base is round but has uneven edges so it is not a perfect circle.
There are four small brown felt pads on the bottom to protect the surface you place it on from scratching.
The artist's signature (Micheal Garman), the copyright symbol and the date 1977 are on the back of this statue.
This statue measures approx. 12 3/4" high. The round base has a 6" diameter. This fine workman weighs 3 1/4 lbs. before packaging for shipment.
Nice vintage condition with no chips or cracks on the statue. He still looks like a hard-working guy who has seen a lot of challenges.
