Matson 24 KT Gold Hand Mirror - Signed Matson Large Ormolu Mirror Gold Ornate Cherubs Flowers Sticker intact - Shabby Chic Hollywood Regency
This is such a pretty bedroom accessory from the Matson Company that was so popular in the mid century. The gold metal edged frame is very ornate and feminine and blends beautifully with both shabby chic and Hollywood Regency decors. This particular hand mirror is a larger size than most. It has most of the original Matson sticker intact on front giving the impression that this was not really used.
The front of the mirror features two cherubs, flowers and swirling shapes that are on top of an ivory colored satin material that is encased in a protective plastic cover. The handle has flowers, leaves and swirls on both sides - the design appears to be identical on both sides of the handle. The rim edges around the mirror have a wonderful swirled detail as well.
The sticker on the front in black and gold foil says "Matson" and also says "24KT Gold Plated"
Measures 13" long and is 5 3/4" wide at the widest point of the reflective mirror.
The gold frame is still quite bright and has very little patina. The mirror is very reflective and appears to never have been used - no chips or cracks are present. There is a water stain on the bottom of the ivory colored satin that is inside the plastic covering - see photos for detail. Price reflects this condition. Overall, in very nice vintage condition.
Amazing mid century piece that is truly glamorous - very much of the Hollywood Regency era!

They manufactured vanity accessories and accessories for the powder room during the 1950s-1960s. Their pieces are often 24kt gold plated and should have a little label or tag attached verifying this.
