Vintage Large Art Deco Vaseline Glass Trophy Cup - Depression Lime Green Uranium Glass Centerpiece with Handles Depression Glass
An amazing Art Deco Vaseline Glass Bowl or handled footed Trophy Cup centerpiece. This lime green bowl does glow in black light as it is uranium glass or Vaseline glass that was made circa the 1920 to 1930s.
This trphgy cup shaped bowl is heavy and features distinctive Art Deco style handles, an octagonal pedestal base, scalloped rim, panels that form the bowl and a starburst in the bottom of the bowl.
The pedestal bowl has bubbles and lines in the glass here and there that were made as it was being produced, which is typical of this type of glass. See photo closeup.
NOTE:
Uranium glass is glass which has had uranium added to a glass mix before melting for coloration. Uranium glass was once made into tableware and household items, but fell out of widespread use when the availability of uranium to most industries was sharply curtailed during the Cold War in the 1940s to 1990s. Most such objects are now considered antiques or retro-era collectibles.
Measures 12" across the top from handle to handle. It is 6 1/2" high. The base has a 4 3/4" diameter. The bowl section without handles is 8" in diameter.
Weighs 4 lbs. before packaging for shipment - this is a hefty piece as the glass is thicker than you may expect.
In great vintage or antique condition with no chips or cracks. What a show piece!
