Antique brass mini Clipboard that probably was used to hold small sheets that were used to record the weight of a coal delivery. It is from the Northwestern Coal and Export Corporation that had a division in Syracuse, New York. This company sold coal and coke in the early part of the 1900s when people used coal furnaces to heat their homes and businesses.
When coal deliveries were made and a small slip of paper that had the weight of the coal delivery recorded on it was given to the homeowner upon delivery.
This brass Clipboard with an advertising logo on the front most likely held the weight slips from the Northeastern Coke & Export Corporation Office from Syracuse, New York. The information from the company is on the oval logo that is embossed on the top of the clip mechanism.
Measures 4" x 6".
This company had four offices in the US and Canada. I found an advertisement in the March 1920 edition, volume 36 of “The Retail Coalman” that lists all the offices.
This vintage brass piece from yesteryear has some green felt on the back side. See photos for details.
In nice antique condition with lots of patina. Clip holds tight and is secure on the clipboard.
