A vintage large and ornate cameo locket necklace with decorative scalloped frame on a 24" gold tone chain. This retro cameo pendant that is on a heavy and long chain is quite large and prominent when worn. The frame has raised swirl and leaf patterns and has a geometric shape around the oval pink and ivory cameo. The cameo is resin and the locket is gone tone metal. The back of the locket section is not decorative but there is a small decorative top piece with some swirls that you use to open the locket up.
The locket pendant is 1/2" thick and the actual oval cameo is raised from the floral swirled frame giving this pendant great dimension.
The locket opens from the top as there is a hinge on the bottom. The locket closes securely with a snap.
Inside the cameo there is a note - This space reserved for the boyfriend picture - that appears to have been there for awhile. (One hopes the boyfriend was eventually found.) There is some color loss on the gold tone frame close to the base of the cameo giving this necklace additional personality.
Clasp opens and closes securely. The necklace is so long that it easily fits over the head without having to use the clasp.
Measurements:
Cameo is 2 1/2" long including the bale and 1 1/2" wide at widest point. It is rather large.
Chain - 24"
There are no markings on the cameo or chain.
The cameo and chain are nice vintage condition with age appropriate patina and wear. See wear around the cameo frame close to the base of the cameo.
