Sorry, this item has sold.

Beautiful Victorian pewter pitcher with a lid that has an ornate design all over it as well as an adorable flower on the top of the lid that serves as the knob. The sides are a rounded bulbous form. On the sides are 6 depressed ribs that are a smooth pewter finish. In between the smooth thinner ribs are 6 wider ribs that have decorative embellishments on them including some etched designs and some raised dot shapes. Based on the markings on the bottom of this Victorian decorative pitcher, it is circa 1877. The Victorian era was from approx. 1837 to 1901.

The neck of the jug or pitcher has etched scalloped designs and raised dots in a band in the center. There are other smaller etched designs on the top and bottom of the neck area.

The hinged lid is also etched designs all over it. As mentioned above, the top knob is a small flower in bloom and a thin bud near it that are on a short stem.

There are 4 ball feet. The handle is a smooth surface with no design.

When I went to look inside this little pitcher, I found a receipt / delivery slip for its purchase dated June 6, 1988 to a person who lived in Notthinghamshire, England. (see photo)

Measures 8 1/2" high to top of the flower knob/filial on the lid. The jug portion itself is 7" high. It is 5 1/2" wide from tip of the spout to the end of the handle.

Weighs 1 1/2 lbs. before packaging for shipment.

In nice antique condition with wear commensurate with an item that is approximately 140 years old. Patina all over - I did not polish as some folks like patina.

Marked 555 on the bottom and with a jeweler's loupe, you can see a signed H A in a finely etched script and Yr N/77. (These other marks may be "Touch Marks". A touch mark is a pewter maker’s “trade mark” and can include the name or initials of the pewterer.)

No, we are not comfortable providing pricing or answering questions about the value or worth of vintage or antique items. We believe they are worth what someone will pay for them.
