Great vintage chalk ware angel in a cream or off-white color with a bit of gold accent paint on the medallion and flowered areas, on the basin the angel is holding over his head as well as a few other places. This statue is signed with a copyright sign as well as the words ALEXANDER BACKER CO. INC on the back - see photo.
The Alexander Backer Company was in New York and was known for the manufacture of chalkware figures and busts in the period between the 1950's - 1960's.
This mid century piece by Alexander Backer is perfect to frame a plant, a photo on a mantle or a piece of art. Has the original ivory and black felt liner on the bottom.
This statue measures approx. 13" in height. The oval base is 8" x 5".
Statue is quite hefty and weighs about 6 1/2 lbs. before packaging for shipment.
Nice vintage condition with no chips or cracks on the statue. The paint has some light chipping commensurate with vintage age, probably the 1960s. See photos for detail.
