Description: This is such a pretty bedroom accessory for displaying your treasures, perfume bottles, jewelry, or makeup. The gold metal edged frame is very delicate and feminine which blends beautifully with both shabby chic and Hollywood Regency decors. This particular mirrored vanity tray is a larger size it has rounded edges. The sides of each have a design showing a bird surrounded by flowers (two flowers on each side of the bird).
The back is signed "Matson" and also says "Made in U.S.A."
Size: 18'' long by 9 1/4'' wide. 3/4'' tall with scalloped edging.
The tray has a dark brownish colored velvet backing so that it won't scratch anything that is in fairly nice original vintage condition - some wear consistent with age on the back where the velvet has been very lightly worn (see photos).
Condition: The gold frame is still quite bright and has very little patina. Overall, in nice vintage condition. Mirror is in great shape - one extremely small and light marking on the right hand side of the mirror - not detectible in photos but I did want to mention. Even the backing has very little wear.
Amazing mid century piece that is truly glamorous - very much of the Hollywood Regency era!
About Matson: Matson Manufacturing Company of 347 FIFTH AVENUE. NEW YORK, NY 10016. Their items were marked © Matson and Matson Import. They manufactured vanity accessories and accessories for the powder room during the 1950s-1960s. Their pieces are often 24kt gold plated and should have a little label or tag attached verifying this.
