Lovely Hayward locket in a unique in a round shape with extended ornately decorated edges on the top and bottom. The center of the front features an etched oval and some different types of pinstripe designs. The back has the characteristic style of pinstripe of the Massachusetts based jeweler, Walter E. Hayward, whose company made this locket circa 1920- 1930s. The bale is ribbed.
Inside is the hallmark that says HAYWARD 1/20-12K GOLD FILLED.
The vintage/antique locket has two places waiting to hold photographs inside. Locket closes with a snap - securely.
This locket is on a newer (yet vintage) 12K gold filled chain with a clasp and ring. It is marked 1/20 12K. Clasp closes securely.
Measurements:
Chain - 18" in length
Locket - 1 1/2" to top of bale (including the bale),1 1/4" without the bale. It is 7/8" wide.
Weighs 8.4 grams total - locket and chain together.
In nice antique with wear commensurate with antique age. Inside there is some wear/discoloration as well as what appears to be the handwritten initials PP and MS near the Hayward hallmark - see photos for detail. Item's price reflects these conditions.
