Pair Vintage Roemer Green Stem Wine Glasses - 2 Green Stem Clear Bowl w/ Frankenmuth & Picture of Dancing Couple - Gold Rims
Wonderful set of 2 Vintage Roemer style wine or cordial glasses with emerald green stems that have rings on the bases and a dancing couple with the word "Frankenmuth" on the clear glass bowl, probably purchased as souvenirs. The top of the rim of each has a gold band.
These glass feel great in the hand - cute little pair of German wine glasses.
Measure 4 1/2" tall. Base has 2 1/2" diameter. Top opening has 2 1/2" diameter.
In nice vintage condition with no chips or cracks.
NOTE:
Roemer Gass is a wine glass with a green stem that looks coiled, topped by a clear bowl and sometimes the glass rim is gold. The Roemer term is because the Romans who brought the wine grapes to Germany in the 4th century. The green stem comes from the potash and sand from the forest, called “forest glass”. When made originally, the complete glass was made green but wine lovers thought the green glass bowl didn't show off the with the color of the wine, hence the clear glass bowl.
