Vintage Borghese Italian Chalkware Victorian Statues Home Decor with Original Stickers by Borghese Still Intact on Bottoms. These are most likely circa 1930s - 1950s statues or figurines.
The pair are a country gentleman and lady that are hand painted cast plaster figurines made by Borghese. This "Young Peasant Couple" both stand near a tree stump with the lady holding what appears to be a bird and the gentelman leaning on a walking stick. The lady wears a green dress and pink blouse. The gentleman sports brown pants, a light colored shirt and pink tie. The bases are an ivoery color with gold striping on the top and a wide gold stripe at the very bottom.
The bottoms have the origintal BORGHESE stickers that are white with red lettering that are still in place. The one statue has a hand written # 70 on the bottom as well.
Measure about 11" tall each. Bases have a 3 7/8" diameter.
In nice vintage condition with no chips or cracks. Wear on the bottoms as would be expected an item from the mid century.

Home decor items by Borghese were manufactured in the USA by Niepold's Inc of Gaithersburg, Maryland at the beginning of the 20th century until the early 1970's. Borghese figurines are molded in a hard, high quality plaster and then painted or gilded.
