Two beautiful and ornate brown with a maroon cast Syroco wood wall shelves. The tops have a flat shelf display surface while the artful scrolling design underneath has a "V" shape that ends at the bottom with a little curl to one side.
Each of these ornate wall shelves from the mid century has a flat top that is about 4 1/2" deep. There are two hooks on the back for hanging on each shelf piece.
The original stickers from the Syracuse Ornamental Wood Co. that says SYROCO WOOD are still intact on the backs of each shelf. The shelves are also printed with COPYRIGHT, MADE IN USA and SYRACUSE ORNAMENTAL CO INC on the backs.
The bottom sections of each shelf feature lovely swirls, leaf shapes and curls typical of French Provincial decor. The top sections have a slot for holding a plate in place - see photos.
The two vintage shelves that are from the mid century and as such, have signs of wear consistent with their age and some chipping, but are quite striking on the wall. One has more wear or paint loss on the top than the other - see photos.
They measure approx. 10" high, 9" wide and 4 1/2" deep. Each shelf weighs a little over a 1 lb. each.
In great vintage condition with some light wear and chipping consistent with mid century age of these two ornate reddish brown wall shelves.
