NOTE:
Kewpie is a brand of dolls and figurines that were modeled after comic strip characters that were created by artist Rose O'Neill. The illustrated cartoons featuring baby cupid characters became popular beginning in 1909, and were first produced in Germany as bisque dolls and signed by O'Neill. They became very popular in the early 20th century in the US.
Kewpie dolls were initially made out of bisque, but were made out of other materials later on including hard plastic, rubber, vinyl and even celluloid in the 1930s.
