Classic beauty to brighten your home. This yellow vaseline glass pedestal bowl or dish is a thick glass and has a round classic shape. I believe this piece is circa 1930 - 1940s and under black light, has a fantastic green glow that is typical of vaseline glass - see photo #4.
Measures 4" high. Top diameter is 7" and base has a 3 1/2" diameter.
In nice vintage condition with no cracks or chips. Some scratch marks on the interior rim of the bowl about 1" down. Item is priced to reflect this condition. The exterior is still quite smooth and has a stain look and feel.
The bowl has a luminescent quality especially (much more so) when under or in the light. The last photos are in natural light on my table indoors and then outside in the daylight.
A cheerful little piece of the past!
NOTE:
Vaseline glass or uranium glass is glass which has had uranium added to a glass mix before melting for coloration. Vaseline glass glows bright green under ultraviolet light, thanks to the uranium oxide added to the glass in its molten state. Some 20th-century pieces were made with up to 25% uranium. Uranium glass was once made into tableware and household items, but fell out of widespread use when the availability of uranium to most industries was sharply curtailed during the Cold War in the 1940s to 1990s. Most such objects are now considered antiques or retro-era collectibles.
