That's how they measured back in the day before the retractable rulers - with wooden measuring sticks.
This Lufkin Red End X46 72" long wooden stick folded up from their 12 sections into a one piece unit. It looks like it had brass ends, a center front stripe brass inset in the front outside wood section that has 6" markings engraved in it and metal hinges.
Lufkin logo is on the front top section as well as X46 and RED END EXTENSION. This can be barely be seen on this wooden measuring stick as it has so much wear - it is worn away and discolored.
Measures 72" long.
In nice rustic vintage condition with lots of wear and discoloration from a lot of hard work. The stick with more wear is almost illegible on the top where it would say Lufkin - the outside section has much more wear. Great rustic item.
