Vintage, hand painted ewer numbered 265 on the bottom. Made in Belgium. I believe this is a H. Bequet Quaregnon Majolica Anenome porcelain ewer or amphora vase with a gold gilded turquoise floral.
Circa 1940's MAJOLICA GILT EWER OR PITCHER
Measures approx. 9 7/8' high. Base has a 4" diameter. About 7" across at widest part - spout to handle.
In very nice vintage condition with no chips or cracks. Light wear to gold on one spot on the handle seen upon close inspection.
NOTE:
H. Bequet began creating beautiful ceramics in 1926 at the Belgian ceramics manufacturer Auguste Mouzin et Cie (AMC). Bequet opened his own ceramics production factory in 1934. The apex of success for the factory was in 1963 when it employed 150 workers, but eventually closed its doors in December 1982. Hubert Bequet did however continue to produce pottery in a small workshop, “The Ceramics of Borinage”, until April 1985 before closing for good.
