Classic beauty to brighten your home. This pair of small low canary yellow vaseline glass candle holders are adorable. I believe this set is circa 1930 - 1940s. Under black light, they have a green glow that is typical of vaseline or uranium glass - see photo with the black light.
The bases on these two candle holders have 8 sides. They are a smaller size but make up for it with their cheerful color.
Measure 4" across at widest point of base and are 1 1/2" high.
In nice vintage condition with no cracks or chips.
A pair of bright little pieces of the past!
NOTE:
Vaseline glass or uranium glass is glass which has had uranium added to a glass mix before melting for coloration. Vaseline glass glows bright green under ultraviolet light, thanks to the uranium oxide added to the glass in its molten state. Some 20th-century pieces were made with up to 25% uranium. Uranium glass was once made into tableware and household items, but fell out of widespread use when the availability of uranium to most industries was sharply curtailed during the Cold War in the 1940s to 1990s. Most such objects are now considered antiques or retro-era collectibles.
