A vintage WEH Company gold filled etched rectangular shield shaped locket on a 14K gold filled curb chain. The locket was made by the Walter E Hayward Co. of Attleboro, Massachusetts. The front features etched florals with rose gold blooms on a yellow gold background. There is an ornate raised trim around the edges. The back has etched pinstripes that are vertical.
The W.E. Hayward company was incorporated in 1891 and for many years manufactured only 18-carat gold products. It became one of the most important jewelry companies in the east part of Attleboro. In later years, the company produced gold filled jewelry items.
This locket is circa 1940s. It measures approx. 1" long x 7/8" wide at the widest part.
The locket closes securely with a snap. Inside it would be able to hold two photos.
The locket is marked WEH GF on the inside. The spring ring clasp on the gold filled chain is marked 1/20 14K.
This retro Locket would be a perfect gift for a young lady!
The spring ring clasp opens and closes securely. The new 14K gold filled curb chain measures 20" in length.
Weighs 8.5 grams total.
In fair to nice vintage condition with wear commensurate with vintage age. There is some loss of gold fill on the front right and especially on the back - see photos for detail. Price reflects condition. The chain is new and in very good condition.
