This is a set of 4 decorative vintage clear with red flash finger bowls.
What is flash? Flashed glass is a type of glass created by coating a colorless glass with one or more thin layers of colored glass.
The sides of the bowls have a bulged out area on the bottom half with 9 thumbprints or impressions around it. There is a line of zig zag designs above and below them. There is also a row on the base that has a raised zig zag edge. These are hefty for their size and feel nice in the hand. Look like they could be either US Glass, Colony, or Tiffin-Franciscan Glass Co. (All three made a Kings Crown pattern.)
The US Glass Company made their version circa 1914. The Tiffin-Franciscan Company made their Kings Crown pattern from 1958 to 1962. The Colony Company made their King's Crown from 1953 - 1967.
They are in nice vintage condition with no chips or cracks. Some wear to the red flash here and there. See photo closeups for detail. Price reflects condition. Even so, a great set of retro glass bowls.
Measurements:
Width: 4 1/4 in
Height: 2 1/4 in
Each bowl weighs over 10 ounces before packaging for shipment - they are substantial.
NOTE: The last photo shows the size of these wine glasses compared to the smaller sized wine glasses that are also listed in our Etsy shop.
A pretty red on clear background and a unique set of four glass bowls for dessert or for fruit! (Or as finger bowls as originally intended.)
