A rare circa early 1900s or late 1800s lidded Early American Pressed Glass (ESPG) pedestal bowl with a unique finial at the top of the lid. This lidded compote bowl features a beaded design on the bottom of the bowl section that is in the shape of a 12 pointed starburst. The edges of the shape are small raised beads. The top of this design has a textured finish that is somewhat opaque while the bottom section of the bowl with the starburst shape is clear glass. This design is about 3/4 of the way down the top bowl.
The lid is plain glass and has a decorative finial at the top. At the very center of this knob on the lid is a small raised flowers on it on both sides. The rest of the knob has scalloped edges and has a bit of a pagoda shape.
The stem has six-sided panels and has a wafer shape about 1" from the top bowl and another wafer about 2" from the bottom. The base itself is round plain glass with two raised ridges near the stem area. It looks especially nice when you open the bowl and look in to see it.
This is truly an eye-catching piece of glasswork that is circa late 1800s or early 1900s in age.
Measurements:
total height: 11 3/4"
diameter of top: 8"

This antique glass lidded compote is in nice antique condition with a few chips in the lid. The finial on the top of the lid has a broken piece at the one end - see photo close up. Price reflects condition.
It is amazing when considering it is approximately 100 years old or more.

I was searching for a replacement for a compote of my grandmother’s which was recently broken. This was the closest I found. At my request, the seller gave a discount, with the shipping waived. I was amazed at how quickly it came - ordered on Sunday, in my home on Wednesday, plus very, very well wrapped to protect the glass. I am very pleased with my purchase.
