Vintage Sandwich Amber glass snack set of 4 plates and matching glasses - circa 1970s in the original box. This pattern was considered Depression Glass and was in production from approximately 1925 - 1985.
Great retro set of 4 matching cups and oval glass plates made by TIARA Exclusive by Indiana Glass. The set is in the Sandwich Amber pattern and has an ornate raised floral and vine pattern all over it and is in a lovely amber color. In the very center of each of the eight pieces is a flower in bloom. The background is a tiny raised beaded design and around the top of the cups and the bottom of the plates is a raised diamond point design.
The plates are oval and have a round impression on one wide where the cups are placed. These sets were popular during the mid century when a gal would have her friends over for a luncheon. This set is in the original box and has the original paper padding still intact between the plates. Looks to be never used. The box has an anniversary notation on it with the dates 1877 to 1977, dating this set to the 1970s.
Measurements:
plates - 8" x 7"
cups - 2 1/2" high, top opening is 3 1/4" high
The set is hefty as the glass is substantial - the box weighs close to 5 lbs. before packing for shipment.
All eight pieces in the Depression Glass set have no chips or cracks - great vintage condition and in the original box! Looks like these were hardly or never used.
