Vintage Large Shell Pendant with 10K Gold Leaf Trim - Pink Shell Pendant on Gold Tone Chain - Shell with Stem and Leaf Design
This is a one-of-a-kind vintage pendant made from a real shell pendant trimmed with gold leaf in an intricate design. The gold leaf tests as 10K.
The shell is a Red Purple Moon sun seashell, which come from a type of very thin sea scallop.The top side of this shell, like Red Purple Moon shells, is smooth and the bottom side is white with ridges. The edges on the front of this pendant are trimmed in gold leaf in the shape of both a band and a scalloped design. On the back is just the plain gold band.
In the center of this vintage pendant, is a design that looks like stems that end in two flower blooms. Each stalk up to the flower has two leaves that are three-leaved. (So there are a total of 2 blooms and 4 leaves.) There is a loop at the end.
The pendant measures approx. 2 3/4" in length and approx. 2 1/4" across. The gold toned serpentine link chain is very long and measure approx. 28" in length. Clasp works well.
NOTE: There appears to be some repair work to the top bloom on the left - there is a bump of glue where someone may have glued down the gold leaf. There also seems to be a hairline crack in the top 1/3 of the shell that was also sealed (I am guessing here) that can be seen when you turn it over. It is not noticeable unless you examine closely. I have taken photos to try to show this and the price reflects these conditions.
