Vintage Jadeite milk glass lidded dish with two lovebirds on the lid made by Westmoreland Glass. This is a light green opaque glass. The dish is in an oval shape and it has a textured basket weave pattern to make the bottom look like a basket. The two birds on the top of the lid are staring tenderly at each other. One bird appears to be larger than the other. They have tiny dark green eyes. This retro era home decor piece is circa mid century.
Marked with the Westmoreland logo on the underside. This particular hallmark was used from 1946 until 1981.
About the Westmoreland Glass Company
Westmoreland Specialty Co was founded in 1889 in Grapeville, PA. In 1923, the organization changed it's name to the Westmoreland Glass Company. Westmoreland produced a large number of unique glass pieces while in operation, including some of the country's most popular designs including milk glass patterns like English Hobnail and Paneled Grape. It closed in 1984. Patterns were produced in a number of different colors including white, amber, pink, blue, a dark green, brown, and a few in this light green, Jadeite color.
In nice vintage condition with no chips or cracks. Very light wear commensurate with vintage age - circa 1950s. Looks amazing!
