Have a Dickens lover? This is a great gift item for them - an antique earthenware plate made in England in the early part of the 1900s.
The octagon shape collectible plate with an ornate and bold orange and brown edging with some tan has a creamy colored background. The center illustration is from Charles Dicken's famous work "David Copperfield" and it is quite colorful.
The quote on the placard under the illustration reads "Mrs. Gummidge casts a damp on our departure." The center illustration has the bold colors of blue, red, green and gold to highlight the characters in the scene.
Made in Great Britain by William Adams and Sons. Ltd, this venerable pottery, known for its earthenware, used the mark from 1896 until 1914. The plate measures 8" diameter. There is crazing front and back, however the glaze is intact. No chips or cracks are noted.
The collectible plate measures 8" across. All eight sides measure 3 1/3" on their outside edges.
In very nice antique condition. No chips or cracks in this plate.
