Antique Oval Locket on 12K Gold Filled Chain w/ Seed Pearls - Ornate Victorian Photo Pendant - Vintage Timeworn Treasure
An antique Victorian locket necklace in an oval shape and with an ornate front. In the very center is a vertical row of three small seed pearls. There is an ornate cross shaped raised piece that the pearls are set into. This embellished diamond shaped raised section is decorated on the surface with swirls and tiny feather shapes. Around this design is a frame that is a raised oval. The locket has a very subtle color difference as some parts are yellow gold filled and some appear to be brass. This vintage oval locket closes with a snap.
This locket is a “Timeworn Treasure” as it has a considerable bit of denting on both sides at the bottom, and especially on the back side. However, it is still quite a lovely piece of jewelry from yesterday that can still be worn and enjoyed today.
The hinge is on the top and the antique locket opens from the bottom by pressing the little round pieces on each side in opposite directions. Inside the locket are two photo wells that each have the frames and glass covers intact. One has a faded photo of a man while the other photo is quite faded and worn.
The locket hangs from a fine gold filled curb chain that complements this antique locket with its delicate texture.
The back of this Victorian oval shaped locket has no design but there is a raised oval about 1/4” in from the other edge that is the same as the raised frame on the front that encircles the center raised shape with the three seed pearls. The back has a matte finish.
The interior of the locket has wells that are slightly deeper than a typical photo locket - it could hold photos and/or a small memento.
The locket hangs from a vintage 12K yellow gold 18” long chain. The clasp has a spring ring closure that opens and closes securely.
This locket is circa late 1800s - early 1900s.
