Never used Ardalt two tier serving tray or stand or tidbit tray made in Occupied Japan. See NOTE below about Ardalt Co.
This ornate stand that is medium sized has top and bottom fine china plates featuring a winged ceramic cherub in the center section. The cherub is playing a violin. There are ornate gold designs on the ivory colored china plates are rounded hexagon in shape with scalloped edges. The gold paint is raised in some places in the hand painted design.
The original stickers are on all three sections - the top plate, bottom plate and on the Angel center section too - see photos. The stickers say "Handpainted Ardalt Lenwile Japan". This serving tray is circa 1950s.
Stands 7" tall. Top plate is 6" across and the bottom is about 8 1/2" across.
In excellent vintage condition with no chips or cracks. Appears to have never been used.
NOTE: Ardalt is one of the two most important names in the history of Japanese export porcelain. The trademark 'Lenwile' sometimes was used which was also registered by ARDALT Inc. Ardalt produced many items for export during the post war period that were sold in department stores in the U.S.
